Interesting Visits of China

Away from the famous monuments almost included in many travel packages to China like the Great Walls of China, the Terracotta Soldiers, and the Forbidden City, we will be shedding light on more and more monuments that are quite remarkable and are always worth a visit.

The Potala Palace is located on the top of the Huangshan Mountain in the city of Lhasa in the Chinese Tibet and it is among the monuments that are often visited by a large number of travelers who tour China.

Established as early as the 7th century AD, the Potala Palace is located around 3700 meters above sea level. The palace extends for a distance of 360 meters from South to North. The main building of the palace consists of 13 floors with a height of 117 meters.

There is also the Victoria Port located at the Hong Kong Island that is characterized by its marvelous natural scenery. This is why many tourists who travel to China would go for a visit to the port that is also featured for hosting many parks and notable gardens.

Another wonderful place to visit in China is the Li River that is one of the longest in the country and it attracts several travelers who enjoy their holidays in China. The river is 266 kilometers long and its banks are distinguished with amazing natural scenes of trees, mountains, and forests.

Among the interesting monuments of China there is also the Leshan Giant Buddha. Located at the city of Sichuan, this huge statue of Buddha is the largest rock carved of Buddha in the whole world. The sight of the Leshan Giant Buddha was enlisted in the world heritage sites of the UNESCO in 1990.

The construction, or let us say the art work of the statue, began in 713 by a monk that wanted to dedicated the powers of the rivers to Buddha. However, the work was halted after the death of the monk for more than 70 years. Afterwards, the military ruler of the area at the time decided to adopt and fund the building of the statue that was completed in 803. Today it is one of the most interesting monuments often visited by vacationers who travel to China.

The Huge Leshan Giant Buddha statue is 71 meters in height and the width between its shoulders is around 28 meters. The height of its ears is around 17 meters and the height of its head is around 15 meters. This huge piece of architecture and art amaze travelers who tour China.

If you are looking for a different place to explore for travelers who tour China, there is the Mogao Cave. Located in the town of Dunhuang, these caves were discovered in the 4th century AD. The caves have some remarkable wall paintings that are estimated to be covering a surface area of 45 thousand square meters. This sight was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

There are in fact many more wonderful palaces for travelers who go on vacations in China. The country is famous for its ancient history and its unique character and characteristics that always grabbed the attention of travelers throughout history.

Info of Passport Protection

Do not keep your passport, cash and credit cards together.

I thought I was being a wise, careful traveler when I got my husband a shiny new “RFID-blocking” leather passport/wallet combination. No one could steal the data from our chips now. He looked like a spy on a mission, like a traveling diplomat. Everything was together, easy to keep track of.

Huge mistake. Huge. Because when everything’s together, then every time you need to pay for anything, you have to get it all out. And, if you’re dealing with cash, which you will in many countries, you have to lay everything down, organize packages, separate cash and coins, and get it all put away.

And at some point, you will lay it down and that will be the end of it. Keep your cash separate from your credit cards, and keep your passport separate from everything else.

Thieves don’t actually want your passport. In fact, most of them don’t even want your credit cards. Credit card theft is easier to trace and the risks are higher. And passports are not easy to sell. Ask the police, and you will discover that passports and credit cards are usually found in a convenient dumpster.

What the thief wants is your cash. So carry cash, but only what you need that day. If you discover it’s missing, it’s only a little and you can replace it from the stash you left in the hotel safe. But if you discover your passport is missing, the fun stops till it’s replaced. And when you start adding up charges for changing flights, extra hotel days, extra meals, transportation and replacement passport charges… losing your passport is not just a scary hassle, it’s also very expensive.

When you get to your hotel, leave your passport in the safe.

You need your passport at the airport. But once you get to the hotel, leave it.

I know, the State Department says to carry it with you. But virtually every hotel has a safe, and many of my most traveled friends leave their passport there. You can leave your extra cash and extra credit cards there, too.

It works great while you stay in one place. The problem, of course, comes when you move around. We’ve all left things behind. Which presents a whole new scenario.

You know who you are, and whether the safe is a good idea for you or not. Still, it has to be said-many experienced travelers find the hotel safe to be the smartest, easiest and safest choice for passport protection.

If you decide to carry your passport with you at all times, like the State Department says, then carry it close, and in a place you never have to access.

I’m a rule-keeper, so I carry mine. And besides, having my passport seems to present at least some level of protection should things suddenly go bad. But if you carry it with you, it’s for official emergencies, not for flashing.

You can wear one of those “inside your clothes” pouches, though for heaven’s sake do wear it inside your clothes, not outside. If you hang it around your neck, possibly with your money as well, you might as well put up a flag that says “Steal this!”

And please, be sure the little tie thingie doesn’t show. It just looks silly.

You can tell I’m not a fan of inside pouches. Probably because I can’t think of any place where I’d really like that kind of a bulge. I wear a small shoulder bag with an inside zip pocket, where my passport goes and never comes out. It’s close to my chest, under my arm, and behind two zippers. And any wandering hands encounter my fake wallet first.

The most important thing is not to put your passport where you have to get it out. Ever. Getting it out defeats the purpose of secreting it away, and ups your chances of losing it. That’s exactly how my husband lost his.

Do not invest in an expensive leather RFID case. For anything.

Get a cheap RFID-blocking paper sleeve, for your passport, or for your credit cards. Office Depot and Staples have them for about $5. They block electronic theft just as effectively as leather, they’re lighter, they lie flatter, and they won’t tempt you to flash them because they’re too cool to hide.

And remember-cash doesn’t need electronic protection, and you don’t have to call anyone if it’s lost.

Nothing is foolproof, and we’re all fools sometimes.

Before you leave, make two color copies of your passport and your birth certificate. Put one set in your suitcase and one in your carry-on. If you have some extra ID, put that in as well. It all makes getting a new passport much easier. And if the worst happens, file a police report. You can’t go to the Embassy till they open anyway, and filing a report makes you look responsible.

So. Wisdom for smart travelers. Having your passport handy may seem like a cool, “world traveler” kind of thing to do. But having it hidden securely away gives you the freedom you need to have the journey you want.

Great Stay At Westgate Resorts

Our Westgate resorts unit was located in Building 6 which was easily accessed from either entrance to the property. Parking (free) was never a problem during our week. I liked that Building 6 had easy access to the biggest of the many pools and we overlooked this pool from our balcony on the top floor.

We faced west and enjoyed sunset views from our screened and furnished balcony. A great treat. We could not see the Big Sand Lake from Building 6 but the pool view after dark was very pleasant with lots of landscape lighting. The master bath was great, and special, with a shower and separate Jacuzzi that had a 2 step surround and was at least 6 ft x 6 ft.

There was a private room for the toilet. The king bed was comfortable. The upholstered easy chair was also comfortable. There was plenty of natural light from the balcony which you could enter privately. There was also access to the balcony from the LR. The balcony was spacious. Easily enough room for the padded recliner that you could extend in either direction. It was equipped with a dining table and 4 chairs that were standard issue. The 5 paddle ceiling fan was never needed. We ate late dinners and early breakfasts out on the balcony every day. Loved it (and the wonderful weather that we were blessed with). March weather in Orlando can be nasty.

I liked the design of the Westgate resorts condo that allowed the 2nd bath to be accessed from either the 2nd BR or from the hall (yes, 2 entrance doors). It was a full bath too, with a shower/bathtub combination. Nice size sink/vanity area too, with good lighting and ventilation.

The kitchen was fully equipped and we put it to the test, cooking every night. The laundry was located in a convenient closet behind the kitchen with shelving and full size washer and dryer. The condition of all appliances in our condo was near new. The full size refrigerator included an efficient ice making freezer. The oven, microwave, and garbage disposal all worked properly. The base cabinets were cheap plywood and the doors didn’t align. No big deal to me.

Our only maintenance call while on vacation at Westgate Resorts involved the electric stove top element which was quickly replaced. I asked for a roasting tray and received a brand new one still in the shrink wrap within 20 minutes of my phone call. The 50 inch TV in the LR was a great treat. There were smaller TVs in each bedroom. I cannot recall if any of them were flat screen.

Summary- Westgate Resorts have a winner in this property. The location is convenient to everything and especially to the I-4 in both directions. There is a Super Walmart only a few minutes away. Many restaurants are in the area too and lots of shopping. We had rented a car so I have no comment about the free shuttle services that are provided.

You cannot easily walk to anything that is off the Westgate Property so keep this in mind in case you intend to not rent a car. I found the Westgate Resorts Staff at this location to be very friendly, even cheerful. The many high rise buildings looked to be in good shape. The lobby area was tastefully set up. I visited many of the pools and each was clean and there were plenty of recliners and chairs and umbrellas.

Landscaping was mature and tasteful. The hardscape was very well maintained, showing lots of update activity. The walkways along the lake was a great treat for early morning walks, and the grill areas looked to be in good shape too, although I did not use any, as they were located far away from our building. The location of a grill located at lakeside in a beautiful wooded setting was a destination that I added to my “next time” to do list!

At our Westgate resorts there was a weekly calendar of activities provided that included many pool games, exercise classes, kids stuff, etc. We did not use the spa so cannot comment. We also did not use the tennis courts, miniature golf course, fishing rods, paddle boats, jet skies, wave runners, and canoes that are free if you are an owner but a good value otherwise. We did take advantage of the early AM breakfast buffet deal held at the Smokehouse Grill on campus. An excellent value.

Reasons to Prefer a Hotel Over Rental in Derby

Awesome location

Derby is an English City located on the banks of the River Derwent in Derbyshire. In the west of the river, there are Derby Museums and Art Gallery instead of that there exists home to Joseph Wright paintings and Gothic Derby and Southeast along the river. In its northwest is Markeaton Park that offers a craft village and boating lake. These all make it the perfect place location wise for visiting and spending vacations in a completely cheerful manner. Whereas, there are also many rentals here, but that are situated in the areas that are distant from the city. You can’t opt for them because they don’t have enough amenities to stay nicely even for some time.

0% Compromise with Privacy

All the luxury hotels have different rooms so that their guests don’t have to take care about their privacy. The hotels in Derby have various kinds of rooms such as single bedrooms, double bedrooms and also the suites that leave no space in order to spoil any guest’s privacy in any manner. Whether, when we talk about the rentals nearby here, their arrangement of accommodation is as poor as you can’t expect any privacy from them. The reason is they don’t have even separate rooms for two separate families so how can you think about privacy. After receiving their service charge amount in advance, they don’t provide all the services that they have discussed you earlier. It is one of the major drawbacks of the rental rooms in Derby.

Value for Money

The Derby hotels offer the complete value of your money by serving you with their premium hospitality services. Firstly, they have all the basic facilities and they keep all their commitments until you check-out from the hotel. They serve you with the best of their hospitality services and avoid any kind of misbehavior that can harm their reputation. This way, they present their level of quality and hospitality so that a guest can observe all the positive aspects of their services and he’ll become the source of their advertisement as well, such as he’ll suggest the same hotel for the other who are opting for a hotel. And, if in future, it requires a review of the guests then they will prove an asset for the hotel if the guests provide the positive review. The star ratings also depend upon the quality hospitality services of a hotel.

Family-Friendliness

When we say family hotel then it denotes that a hotel should posses a warm-behavior with the kids and senior members of the family that are checking-in. It should have appropriate amenities for the entertainment of the kids and when it comes to elders then the hotel should have enough arrangements for them as well like anytime doctor availability, transportation to reach the nearest multi-specialty hospital, spiritual and calm place in the hotel premises, etc. Derby hotels provide all the above stated amenities that’s why they are known as the dominant family hotels. Whereas, the rentals don’t have that scope to offer you required services for the kids and elders.

Select Guest Friendly Hotels

As you hunt for hotels online, it is advisable that you take your time and that you do not select the first option that you come across. There are some factors that you should consider so as to ensure that you settle for the best hotel:

  • Reviews: visit the site to check the experiences and ratings that other people have left behind. This is one of the best ways in which you can find out what kind of hotel you are looking into.
  • Take a look at the website: by looking at the website, you will have an idea of the hotel in very many ways. Usually, there should be pictures and it’s up to you to decide whether the facilities are up to your standards.
  • Location: the hotel should not be situated in such a way that makes it hard to connect to other areas like the city. This takes care of the commuting issue that may arise, especially if located in areas that don’t have any public transportation.
  • Compare: it is important to compare hotels in the area of interest. This ensures that you get the best facilities for accommodation at the same rate. Take your time choosing a hotel.
  • Offers: before booking a room, take time to check for discounts on offer. Some hotels offer last minute or early bird discounts.

Some of the best characteristics of a good and the guest friendly hotel include:

  1. Cleanliness: a good hotel should be clean and tidy. This should be a place where you can easily relax and enjoy a good sleep before anything else. A hotel need not be a five star to be clean and tidy.
  2. Wi-Fi: in this day and age, a reliable internet connection is very important. You should be able to stay in touch with the world, regardless of where you are. The Wi-Fi connection needs to be available and accessible regardless of where you are within a hotel.
  3. The bathroom space: a good hotel should have adequate bathroom space. This will allow guests to feel at home and relaxed. It should be spacious enough to set up a few things that you need to use often.

Important Factors to Be Looked at Before Booking Flights and Hotels

Look for flights and hotels that give you the best offers

It is self-explanatory that search online for the brands and agencies that have plenty of sales concessions for your booking. You can additionally check for hints like:

  • Exclusive company offer
  • Lazy payment option (where sometimes hotels let you pay for the next time booking)
  • Budget-friendly booking services
  • Standard amenities
  • Paying directly at the hotel

These vary depending upon the agent and the medium through which you book.

Secured flight booking is a must for all

There may be last-minute stresses and other travel hurdles which can make you anxious during the start of your journey. Typically, good companies will provide you the option to enjoy any cancellation protection for every domestic flight booked. Other security concerns are:

  • Protection from Fare drops
  • Cancellation procedures for the same day of booking
  • Sometimes International bookings on flights and hotels will let you hold now and pay later, and this also ensures that your tension reduces.

Choose a flight or hotel that suits every destination you plan

Are you planning for a weekend getaway to some nice resort? Or are you tripping for a honeymoon? Even the adventure activities are a must for a nice escape from your mechanical life. Whatever the purpose of the visit selecting and booking from various domestic and international destinations is essential. You should ensure that the booking is well-suited as per your spectrum of travelling.

Be it an International flight or even a budget hotel, it is a must for you to have a checklist ready for:

  • Pre-planned itinerary
  • Transport upon arrival/departure or even for sightseeing
  • Well-researched travel plans beforehand
