Chelsea Gardens Hotel Apartments

The staff at the hotel was attentive to my needs and indeed, very helpful. Rachel, the receptionist was extremely cooperative and hospitable; she made the check-in process quick. The prices were very reasonable compared to other similar 4 star apartment hotels. This one was sheer value for money.

Coming down to the rooms, which were notably spacious and had all the facilities such as a washer, dryer, refrigerator, kitchen supplies, microwave and some nice modern furniture. This made cooking and doing the laundry fairly simple and completely removed the hassle of getting the laundry done and finding a good restaurant for food. The room wasn’t gaudy in any way – decorated in neutral shades it was quite calming. The balcony overlooked the ‘Discovery Gardens’ which were aesthetically pleasing to look at each morning.

The hotel had an array of services and amenities making the stay as comfortable as possible. There was free wi-fi access in all the public areas of the hotel and access in the rooms for a minimal fee – exactly what I needed. Just across the street was the Geant hypermarket from where I purchased my daily groceries and they sold everything – from pin to piano. The ‘Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall’ with its historical charm and beautiful architecture was a short walk away; I was visiting the mall almost every day mainly for the food court which had a wide variety of restaurants and chains. I really loved the European and Asian cuisine served by the in-house restaurant ‘Wharf’ that I happened to try on multiple occasions.

The scrumptious breakfast buffet (which I may add, was included in the rate) was served fresh and hot every morning and the menu was different each day. The breakfast was sufficient enough that sometimes I would even skip lunch. The hotel had a 24 hour room service and the butlers were very prompt in their response to any request.

The warm touch, convenient location and affordable prices made it a great place for me to stay for an extended period of time. I stayed in the Chelsea Hotel Apartments on a number of occasions since then, and has become my favorite each and every time, be it a business visit or a family trip to Dubai.

Be A Good Tourist On Your Next Trip

Be At Your Best Behaviour

Remember that when you are travelling to a new place, you are representing the place you are coming from. You don’t want to give a bad impression about your homeland. So, try and be polite and smile at people you meet at cafes or public places. Talk to your hotel staff and try to learn about their culture a little more. Once you strike a friendly conversation, you will notice that people will open up to you. They will be willing to help you get around the place. Who knows someone might treat you to a nice homemade meal too!

Don’t Make Racist Comments

Often, while travelling, tourists can get microaggressive in certain situations. This will leave a bad taste in not just your mouth but to the other person too. Stay away from judging their culture or making comments on the way they look. People shouldn’t get the impression that you don’t appreciate their country or culture. So, be cautious about how you behave in public places.

Learn about the Rules of the Place

It’s not necessary that what is legal in your country will be legal in another one too. For instance, chewing gum in Singapore is a punishable offence. And not just foreign countries, rules can be different from one place to another in your own country too. So, the best way to make sure that you are not fined, or worst arrested, is to learn about the basic laws of the land you will be travelling to. This information can be accessed from the web easily.

Reasons Why You Should Travel Alone

A Chance To Be Adventurous!

After 18+ years of being told what to and what not to do, travel lets you try new things like skydiving, whitewater rafting, that strange delicacy in Thailand and other things you never tried at home.

Self-Discovery

Seventy-eight percent of young travellers want to learn something when travelling. Uncover your hidden art critic at the Louvre in Paris or find your passion for ancient architecture at the Acropolis in Athens.

Bragging Rights

Fifty-six percent of your friends want to travel as a result of your posts because travel is excellent, not just because you are an expert at selecting the perfect phone filter. The only thing better than seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night is how insanely jealous your friends will be when you upload your pictures.

Sharing Common Ground

Two out of three young travellers visit a place that is recommended by friends and family. Don’t be left out. Travelling to places your friends and relatives visited lets you share everyday experiences and stories.

Attainable With Minimal Effort – You Can Do It Now

Remember when you were young and you couldn’t wait to grow up? Well, you’re grown up (not to be confused with old). By taking a tour, it takes the hassle out of travel. When you’ve only got two weeks, you want to make every second count.

Private Car Service

Private car services use only the most comfortable and high-end luxury cars such black Lincoln Town cars and Cadillac Escalades. You have peace of mind knowing that someone will be there waiting for you when you arrive at the airport. You don’t have to worry about flagging down a taxi or waiting for family or friends to pick you up. In many cases, the drivers will track your flight information to time their pick-up, this is super convenient especially if your flight is delayed or changed.

You also get the added benefit of productivity. Using a car service means you’ll have more time to take care of things that matter the most to you; especially if you are travelling for business. Instead of wasting time driving, the time can be used to make important phone calls or answer emails. All you have to do is sit back and relax, the driver will get you where you need to go comfortably.

Private car service provides the added security and possible reduction of travel insurance costs. Trained drivers are insured and take the uncertainty out of driving; especially in a new city.

Another benefit is the level of service you receive. It is one on one service to accommodate your needs only. You do not share with another which provides privacy, cleanliness, reliability and best of all convenience. Using a private car service is much more cost-effective overall than using local taxi service over and over again which is super time-consuming and often with hidden fees or other associated pitfalls.

Ultimately, booking transportation through a private car service takes the stress out of getting around. It also relieves the daily hassle of dealing with traffic. This allows for more time to focus on the things that are important to you, whether that be business related or personal.

Delicacies of Far North Queensland

Smaller areas

If you’re staying in say Port Douglas luxury accommodation then the local area isn’t going to be on par with Cairns for choice.

However, what you will find is a stunning variety of local dishes (plus international of course).

Try the crispy port belly with scallops or perhaps the locally caught coral trout. Not tempting you?

What about the tiger prawns and squid in a homemade chilli sauce?

What you’ll see in the smaller towns is a more boutique and experimental cuisine that’s unique to this part of Australia. Once again, the prices are likely to be very reasonable (perhaps an average of A$35 per head for a typical main course) given the quality and freshness of what you’ll be eating.

Be aware that eating outside of the big centres such as Cairns often brings you closer to nature. So, in some restaurants you’ll have bandicoots (a small marsupial) wandering around and even the odd snake. That’s all part of some components of the out-of-town Far North Queensland dining experience.

Fast food

Yes, if you wish to or are on a very tight budget, there are plenty of very reasonable budget and fast-food restaurants though they may be confined to the larger centres.

A typical fast food burger meal will set you back around A$8 per head and it’ll be of standard international quality levels for this type of establishment.
